Article - PAUL CLUVER GETS THE GO-AHEAD

De Rust, home of Paul Cluver Wines, obtained the necessary rezoning approval from the Theewaterskloof Municipality on 3 September 2008 to trade from its new distillery which produces an exclusive regional terroir spirit embodying tradition reinvented and will be launched in the months to come. Meriké Schalkwyk of Hermanus based Plan Active Town & Regional Planners applied for and co-ordinated the combined application in respect of the Farm De Rust No. 926. The distillery is an addition to the already successful Paul Cluver agricultural and tourism related activities which include the Paul Cluver Winery, the Paul Cluver Guest House and the Paul Cluver Amphitheatre. The Paul Cluver winery has been in operation for 10 years and was expanded in 2000 producing wines which are acclaimed both internationally and nationally for their elegance and finesse, underpinned by a sustainable approach to environmental aspects including adherence to a Winery Wastewater Plan. The Paul Cluver Guest House, a small group of cottages set in the beautiful valley on the banks of the Rhebok River, offers a unique, relaxing country getaway. And for those of you looking for a unique experience where entertainment, culture and nature meet, the Paul Cluver Forest Amphitheatre offers it all, including Plan Active’s layout ensuring ample parking space is available for those attending the variety of shows in the forest ringed amphitheatre.

Paul Cluver commented that “We are pleased to have completed the formalities under the relevant legislation, with the support of Plan Active, for our agricultural and tourism related activities which add an additional dimension to the attraction of our farm and the Elgin area as a multi-facetted destination and thank all the various municipal and provincial departments involved for their handling of this process”.
